10/20/17 review of MoMA panel on Authority, Appropriation, and the Democratic Imagination

Here is the link to my Twitter thread review of the Museum of Modern Art's 2017 panel on Authority, Appropriation, and the Democratic Imagination.

The moderator was Glenn Lowry, and the panelists were Alondra Nelson, Homi Bhabha, and Charles Taylor. The thread discussed some of the panel's themes, like cultural appropriation in the arts, authority over one's experiences, democracy and voice, creating convergent spaces in social media, the work of Anna Deavere Smith, giving people a sense of efficacy and authority, and the civic role of museums.

11/15/16 review of panel discussion with members of Pussy Riot

Here is the link to my Twitter thread review of a November, 2016, panel discussion with Maria Alyokhina and Sasha Bogino of the group Pussy Riot. This panel was moderated by Bree Davies.

The thread gives some background on Pussy Riot. The thread discusses some things Masha and Sasha spoke about regarding their experiences as activist artists in Russia, including being jailed. The thread discusses things Masha and Sasha mentioned about the power of female sexuality, being a role model, other Russian activist art groups and media outlets, the 2016 elections, protesting, and the openness of the group Pussy Riot to members.

I saw this panel at the Oriental Theater in Denver, Colorado.

11/13/16 review of a Denver Film Festival panel about music videos

Here is the link to my Twitter thread review of the 2016 Denver Film Festival panel Internet Killed the Video Star.

The thread gives some background on the panel, which was about music videos in the age of the internet. The thread discusses the work of some of the MV director panelists, including Daniel Kent, Natalie Neal, and Mimi Cave. I also have an interaction with Brianne Nord-Stewart, who was also on the panel. The thread also discusses the performers for whom the directors made MVs, such as Ladonnis and Danny Brown.
