I gave testimony against this bill, as I feel the bill is too focused on surveillance, incarceration, and fee generation, versus methods for deterring people from exploiting children.

9/15/19 proposal of a "swear jar" for Democrats

Here is the link to my September 15, 2019, Twitter thread discussion, proposing a "swear jar" idea for Democrats.

The idea was that, each time a Democrat felt the need to tweet about high-ranking folks in the Republican Party, they would instead research a swing district in their state, tweet about that swing district, and donate some money to that district.

Throughout 2019 and 2020, my worry about the 2020 elections was that Democrats were too focused on the presidential election. My fear was that the Republicans would exploit that focus. I worried that they would catch the Democrats off guard and gain seats in Congress.

Eventually, my fears were founded and unfounded.

The Democrats actually won enough seats in the Senate that they now, as of 2021, essentially have control of the Senate. And, even though the Democrats lost a lot of seats they simply should not have lost in the House, they still have control of the House. So my fears of the Republicans succeeding enough that they would keep control of the Senate and gain control of the House were wrong.

However, the Democrats simply should not have lost the seats we lost in the House in 2020. We lost them because we didn't pay attention to them. And, in districts we could have turned from Republican to Democrat, including here in Colorado, we not only didn't flip those seats, but we allowed some really extremist and ultra-conservative folks to take those seats.

I'm really hoping the Democrats, in Colorado and nationwide, form a good election strategy for 2022.

2/15/19 review of Globeville's second meeting about a tiny home village

Here is the link to my February 15, 2019, Twitter thread about the second Globeville neighborhood meeting about a proposed tiny home village to serve as transitional housing for homeless people.

This meeting was really pivotal for me. The people of Globeville were very much against having the tiny home village in the neighborhood. I was, honestly, shocked by how cruel some of my own -- Hispanic -- neighbors could be toward homeless folks. And it really made me feel even more disgusted with politics than I was becoming as 2019 began.

Also, you'll see at the end of this thread that I make guesses about the housing market in Denver. I thought home prices would go down. This was obviously wrong. The housing market did great in 2019, I believe. And, for sure, in 2020, the housing market in Denver did very well.

12/30/18 review of the "confusing" year 2018

I would like to say a couple of things about this thread.

First -- Twitter's platform has twisted each of my threads through 2018 and 2019 out of chronological order. This is embarrassingly bad in some of my threads -- especially threads where I'm talking about a chronological order of events, like this one. The timeline is so jumbled up. It really frustrates me.

Second -- I think it's funny that I called 2018 a confusing year. Oh, how little I anticipated 2020.

Third -- In these tweets, you'll see me talking directly to Colorado's then-Governor-elect, Jared Polis. I want to make clear -- this is because he was following me on Twitter. He was one of my Twitter followers.

I also want to make it clear -- right before Polis got elected, I had a significant conversation with him over DM on Twitter. Polis told me -- he told me via DM -- that he was sorry he voted for FOSTA-SESTA. He said he made a mistake. And he said he knew that sex workers needed rights.

Governor Polis, I feel, has not honored the conversation he and I had. He has done a lot of other things over the past few years as governor that I've liked. But he has also done a lot of disappointing things.

But I want to make the point here, that when I was talking directly to him in this thread, I was doing so because he followed me on Twitter and because he and I had had a conversation over DM on Twitter about sex work decriminalization and FOSTA-SESTA.
