5/5/21 review of Colorado Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on child pornography

Here is the link to my May 5, 2021, Twitter thread review of the Colorado Senate Judiciary Committee's hearing on HB21-1069, a bill that aims to broaden Colorado's child pornography laws, redefine some child pornography as being an extraordinary risk crime, and increase the number of penalties one person can face per arrest.

I gave testimony against this bill, as I feel the bill is too focused on surveillance, incarceration, and fee generation, versus methods for deterring people from exploiting children.

11/21/20 reaction to Wall Street Journal article on teen sexting

Here is the link to my November 21, 2020, Twitter thread reaction to the Wall Street Journal article "For Teens, Sexting Can Be a Crime," by Amy E. Feldman. My thread has a lot of criticisms, both regarding US state and federal child pornography laws, but also regarding Feldman's take on this issue.

8/18/20 more thought on the 1977 child pornography hearings

Here is the link to my August 18, 2020, Twitter thread, where I try to show how the rhetoric of the 1977 child pornography hearings has flowed through to the child-sex-law language of today, and how I wish people -- especially LGBTQ folks -- pay attention to how dangerous the continuation of this rhetoric really is.

8/14/20 review of the 1977 Congressional hearings on the sexual exploitation of children

Here is the link to my August 14, 2020, Twitter thread review of the 1977 Congressional hearings on the sexual exploitation of children.

These hearings are also known as the hearings on child pornography. This is an incredibly important document for many reasons, and I wish more people would read it -- especially LGBTQ people interested in preserving their rights, and anybody at all wishing to preserve freedom of expression in America.

Here is the link to my November 15, 2019, Twitter thread discussion about some of the history, as I understood it then, surrounding Patrick Califia's book Public Sex, and why I found the book both interesting and frustrating.

9/24/19 review of the article "Little Girls and Sex," by James A. Incardi

Here is the link to my September 24, 2019, Twitter thread review of the article "Little Girls and Sex," by James A. Incardi, in the 1984 issue of the journal Deviant Behavior.

As you'll notice, I did not mention the title of the article in this thread. This brief article is available through academic article sources online. It deals with direct accounts from girls who did sex work of varying kinds in the early 1980s. It is one of the few documents of its kind, as, usually, the accounts of the youths in these situations, if not erased entirely, are heavily monitored by organization representatives who essentially serve as censors.

6/22/19 discussion about youth sexuality and youth sex laws

Here is the link to my June 22, 2019, Twitter thread discussion about youth sexuality and laws about youth sex.

Twitter's platform has twisted each of my threads through 2018 and 2019 out of chronological order. This thread is affected, but is still mostly coherent. My apologies.
