1/9/18 review of Denver Art Museum show Stampede: Animals in Art
Here is the link to my Twitter thread review of the Denver Art Museum show Stampede: Animals in Art.
The thread gives a summary of the show. The thread discusses some of the show's themes. And it gives some pictures and descriptions of work by artists such as Christian Hahn, Kim Dingle, Wenling Chen, Pia Stadtbaumer, Lin Tianmiao, Kiki Smith, Enrique Martinez Celaya, Georgia O'Keefe, Daniel Richter, Duke Beardsley, Inka Essenhigh, Rick Bartow, Deborah Butterfield, and E-Line Media.
Some of my threads have been twisted out of chronological order by Twitter's platform. This has a slight effect on the coherency of this thread. My apologies.
Here is the link to the Denver Art Museum's web page for the show.

It also discusses some of my own reactions to being in the audience of that talk. It also discusses some of the ways the talk got me inspired to be more civically engaged.

1/3/15 review of History Colorado show RACE: Are We So Different?
Here is the link to my Twitter thread review of the 2014/15 History Colorado exhibition RACE: Are We So Different?
My Twitter thread gives a brief summary of the show, then discusses its interactive feel. I discuss how the exhibit traces the social expedience of the concept of race, and how that concept has developed to foster exclusion. I discuss some elements of exclusion the exhibit points out (homeownership, access, etc.). I also reflect on how the exhibit inspired me even more to be more active socially and politically.
RACE: Are We So Different? was a traveling exhibition created by the American Anthropological Association. Here is their webpage on the exhibition.

(Image: The Denver Post)
Here is the link to my Twitter thread review of the Black American West Museum and Heritage Center's celebration for the 89th birthday of its founder, Paul Stewart.
My thread gives a bit of history on the Black American West Museum and on Paul Stewart. It discusses the birthday celebration and some of the people who were there. It also discusses my reflections on Colorado history and family history. And it talks about how nice everyone at the Black American West Museum is.
Unfortunately, Mr. Stewart passed away about a year after this celebration.

4/26/15 review of 31 Hours of Myopia at Museum of Contemporary Art Denver
Here is the link to my Twitter thread review of the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver's 31 Hours of Myopia event. This was a closing event for the Mark Mothersbaugh show Myopia.
My review is a sort of journal entry. It discusses an open mic night for electronic instruments, Mothersbaugh's voluminous body of postcard art work, some aspects of Mothersbaugh's work that reminds me of ageplay fetishism, a karaoke and dance party, an bedtime story and interview session Mothersbaugh did for us via Skype, some of the interesting people I saw at the event, and some issues I had with people who didn't want me at the event.

3/1/15 review of Scholastic Art & Writing Awards exhibit at History Colorado Center
Here is the link to my Twitter thread review of the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards exhibit that took place at the History Colorado Center in early 2015.
This exhibit was a statewide exhibit of work by teens. The show was enormous, with a ton of great visual art work. In this thread, I mostly highlight the works I liked. I also discuss the HCC's 1968 exhibit, which gave a snapshot of the United States in 1968. That was a fabulous show. I provide a lot of pictures in the thread. I also mention having seen Joyce Carol Oates at the Tattered Cover Book Store, where she'd been speaking about her just-released book, The Sacrifice.
