12/20/15 review of MSU CVA exhibit Under the Guillotine

Here is the link to my Twitter thread review of the Metropolitan State University Center for Visual Arts exhibit Under the Guillotine: James Gillray and Contemporary Counterparts.

My thread gives a little context for the show, including the collector who owned many of the works displayed, Arthur Gilbert. The thread discusses how Gillray illustrated the history and scandals of his time. It also discusses how Gillray's nationalistic paranoia is much like the paranoia we are dealing with today. The thread discusses some of my favorite pieces.

The thread also spends quite a bit of time on the works of Molly Crabapple, which were on display in the exhibition as an example of Gillray's contemporary counterparts.
